About South Country Concerts

South Country Concerts was founded by two internationally known Bellport musicians, soprano Deborah Birnbaum and cellist Laurinel Owen, with the objective to provide the highest quality concerts to South Shore residents.
Mission Statement:
To provide quality yet affordable musical concerts and programs to the community in efforts to facilitate cultural enrichment; to provide vocal and instrumental master classes, workshops and festivals; to hold musical competitions and provide scholarships to students; to publish a performing arts newsletter; make musical recordings; commission new compositions; and collaborate with other arts organizations.

Featuring an eclectic mix of classical repertoire in an intimate and informal setting, the series has an outreach to music lovers of all ages.

Support for South Country Concerts

In addition to support from subscription fees SCC has received awards from several public and private sources. SCC has been awarded grants in every year from 2006 through 2022 from the New York State Council on the Arts. The South Country Education Foundation. In Suffolk County the Decentralization Program is administered by the Huntington Arts Council, Inc. in partnership with the Suffolk Consortium of Arts Councils. Following inconme from subscription and ticket sales generous support from private donors continues to be the single largest sourceof support for the organisation.

Since it's founding in 2001 a three concerts have been performed every year (except 2020 due Pandemic restrictions). Additiona; performaces ahve aumented the s series for some years. A wide range of guest artists including Pianists, violinists, baritones, harpists, etc. have, with the SCC Residents, delighted audiences. An SCC concert has been the world's premiere for several works and our audiences have been very appreciative of the special event.

South Country Concerts has non-profit status. As a Charitable Organization your tickets and donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. The funds raised by this event will enable the series to expand our innovative programming, Arts Education, and allow us to bring a wider variety of accomplished performers to Bellport. Your generous support is greatly appreciated.
